Askari Metals (AS2) has identified new anomalous zones of lithium-bearing pegmatite from its phase three rock sampling campaign at its Barrow Creek lithium project in the Northwest Territories.
The program tested 69 rock samples over a length of 6.2 kilometers in the southeast area of the project.
The company has identified three new targets from the program and will plan follow-up work accordingly.
The results indicated a correlation between lithium and several of its indicator minerals, including tin, tantalum, niobium, silver, molybdenum and antimony.
He has planned reverse circulation (RC) drilling and is considering air or rotary airblast drilling to test under the shallow cover material.
RC drilling will begin upon receipt of exploration permits.
Vice President of Exploration and Geology Johan Lambrechts said the results were encouraging.
“Lithiferous pegmatites identified in the third phase in the Southeast accentuate the potential of this project, which the company is discovering methodically,” he said.
“The fact that these results come from an initial reconnaissance visit and not from a detailed mapping and sampling program is considered very positive, and we are excited to revisit the area.”
The shares were trading up 8.33% at 26 cents apiece at 1:50 p.m. AEST.
