MNR reviews City’s drinking water loan application

BOSCOBEL – The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) today announced that the City of Boscobel is an applicant for funding through the Drinking Water Loan Program (SDWLP) to address deficiencies in its public system drinking water. The project includes the replacement of lead service lines throughout the town of Boscobel.

Activities related to this project are minor actions under Chapter NR 150, Wis. Admin. Code, for which no environmental analysis is required; however, in accordance with Federal requirement 40 CFR §35.3580 of the Drinking Water Loan Program, an environmental review must be completed before funding this project.

The Safe Drinking Water Loans Program has determined that the project will not cause significant adverse environmental effects and that no further environmental review or analysis is required before proceeding with project financing.

The public is encouraged to submit comments regarding this decision and the potential environmental impacts of this project. Send your comments by May 2, 2022 to:

Based on the feedback received, the Safe Drinking Water Loans Program may prepare an environmental scan prior to proceeding with the funding process. The analysis would summarize MNR’s consideration of project impacts and reasonable alternatives.
