Pune: employee of civic organization resorts to theft of smartphones to pay loan amount, arrested

Pune: On Sunday, an employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation was taken into custody for allegedly stealing more than 20 smartphones. The 33-year-old worked in the health department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) on a contract basis.

According to the report, the accused has been arrested in the areas of Bibvewadi and Market Yard for the past six months.

The suspect has been identified as Tanaji Randive. In a fine victory, the city cops caught him in the middle of the action as he tried to sell the phones near the Mahavir Garden on Gangadham Road.

As a result, the police team recovered six phones from his possession on September 2.

While commenting on the arrest, Chief Inspector Sunil Zavare of Bibvewadi Police said: “The accused started stealing smartphones to earn quick money because he wanted to pay off his loan amount”, quoted through Times of India.

Tanaji Randive has reportedly been involved in the theft of so many smartphones in the past six months.

During the investigation, the suspect informed the cops that he used to steal phones, in order to easily earn money. Randive used to resell smartphones in the market at lower prices.

Bibvewadi police arrested him for stealing phones near the Mahavir garden.
