DU launches a call for student loan applications for smartphones

University to provide students with up to Tk 8,000 in the form of a low rate loan

Authorities at Dhaka University (DU) have asked university students to submit loan applications to purchase smartphones for the purpose of participating in online classes and exams.

The university will provide up to Tk 8,000 in the form of a low rate loan through student bank accounts at Sonali, Janata and Agrani banks.

Students were invited to submit their applications by June 15, according to a notification released Thursday by DU’s account manager Md Iliyas Hossain.

Those who do not have a bank account have been urged to open one and notify their respective departments, he added.

Students must submit the smartphone receipt to the loan approval committee through their departments.

The loan amount must be repaid by the affected student before completing their degrees or university courses in one go or in four equal installments, depending on the notification.

No transcript or certificate will be issued unless the loan is repaid.

The subsidized loan application form can be downloaded from the university’s website (www.du.ac.bd).
