“TEVTA doubles the amount of the loan without interest for its students”

Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Chairman Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said TEVTA will increase interest-free loans for its students from Rs 500 million to Rs 1,000 million .

Addressing a meeting of TEVTA officials on Monday at the TEVTA secretariat, he said a whopping 2,000 million rupees was being spent on infrastructure and now the same amount is being spent on human development.

TEVTA has decided to double the amount of interest-free loans granted to TEVTA graduates in line with the vision of Punjab chief minister Shehbaz Sharif, Irfan said. He added that the priority of the Punjab government was to make the young people of Punjab qualified and provide them a reasonable opportunity to earn money through interest free loans. TEVTA was playing its role to the best of its ability in this regard, he said.

He said that so far TEVTA, together with the Akhuwat Foundation, has provided interest-free loans to more than 7,000 students.

He added that Japan and Turkey have given such loans to his students to help them set up their own institutions. “Anyone can see where these two countries are in the world,” he added. He said that in Canada a skilled person earns a salary that is seven times more than a simple graduate.

Irfan said that by getting these loans, the students would play their role in strengthening the country’s economy and that they would also be able to bear the expenses of their families, adding that all loans will be given to students in the deserved.
